What are the benefits to sponsors?
When you sponsor a community's 2025 Full Membership, you're stepping forward to let that community and your peers know that you support a future where America's rail-connected communities are safe, accessible, and thriving places to live, work, and play.
Be recognized as a safety and accessibility advocate
We'll let your customers, competitors, partners, and the world know that you're supporting a safer, more accessible, and thriving future for American railtowns by sponsoring a specific community's 2025 Full Membership. Your company's recognition may be seen on one or more of the following: our social media channels, our website, a Railtowns.org newsletter, our blog. We'll include your company's name and the name of the community whose membership you sponsored. If you sponsor multiple communities, we'll mention each of them.
The community you sponsor gets the opportunity to say Thank You
The community whose 2025 Full Membership you sponsor will find out about your sponsorship when we reach out to let them know about their 2025 Membership benefits and begin their onboarding. They'll be given the phone or email address that you provided when you submitted your sponsorship so that they can express their appreciation to you.

Railtowns.org is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3). Your donation is tax exempt to the fullest extent of the law, and we encourage you to talk with your tax professional for more information.
Founding Sponsor benefits are within reach
Railtowns.org's Founding Sponsors get a host of benefits throughout 2025, including permanent recognition on our website, in our office, and at all of our hosted events. Your $99 community sponsorship today does not include Founding Sponsor status, but your company can earn that status by stepping up to a Steel Spike-level contribution before 2026.
What are the benefits to the sponsored community?
Funds for Safety and Accessibility
The most effective way to make our railtowns safe and accessible is to fund the critical infrastructure and technology solutions needed to address the challenges. We're identifying sources of major and matching funds already set aside to address the issues our communities are struggling to resolve, and building a program to guide members through the process.
Connecting Communities
When one community has a rail-related challenge, chances are good that one of the estimated 14,000+ other railtowns in America has experienced a similar issue, and may be able to help find a solution. We're developing interest groups that allow the community's first responders, city planners, elected leaders, and transportation departments to learn from and support each other.
Sharing Best Practices
We're working with experts, government entities, railroads, the industry, and the industry ecosystem across the country and around the world to give railtowns access to the best available strategies for addressing critical issues like crossing safety, emergency response, city planning, and maintaining productive relationships with concerned citizens, railroads, government representatives, and the broader community.
Rebuilding Railtown Pride
There was a time when being a railtown was a source of community pride. It meant growth, possibility, access, and a never-ending supply of goods. The way we built our infrastructure around railroad tracks has led to rail being seen as dividing rather than connecting us. We're working to make rail an integral part of our communities, and part of our future growth, safety and success.

Is there a limit to how many communities I can sponsor?
Your organization can sponsor as many community Full Memberships as you'd like.
Can I sponsor a membership as an individual?
We're so glad you asked! Yes, individuals are welcome to sponsor their hometown or community of choice. All of the benefits listed above for both the sponsor and the community remain the same.
What qualifies as a 'community' whose membership can be sponsored?
A sponsored community can be a rail-connected town, city, county, municipal planning unit, neighborhood, emergency response region, or unincorporated community. No community is too big, and none is too small.
When does the community's membership start?
The Full Membership begins January 1st. We aim to let the community know about their new membership as soon as they gain a sponsor and will then onboard them so that they can take full advantage of their year of rail-related benefits, resources, and supports!
How does the community find out that my company sponsored their 2025 membership?
We'll let the community know about their Full Membership through your company's sponsorship directly and as quickly as we are able following your payment. Unless you choose to stay anonymous, they'll be given contact information to reach back out to you to say thank you.
What happens if one community gets lots of sponsorships?
There is no maximum number of sponsors per community. If the total sponsorship contributions meet or exceed the cost of a Full Membership, the community receives an additional year of membership. Full Membership fees are based on population, and you can find the fees list here.
How can I sponsor Railtowns.org directly?
Railtowns.org's operations and programs are funded by organizations like yours! We have robust corporate sponsorship packages starting at our Steel Spike level of $9,950 all the way up to our Founders Circle level at $99,950. When you sponsor us at any of the listed levels today, you can join our limited-time offer of becoming a Foundering Sponsor. This comes with permanent recognition.
